Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture is a system of healing that dates back thousands of years. The philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) establishes forces named Yin and Yang that exists in every aspect of life. A body is said to be healthy when both Yin and Yang are in equal balance. The progression of dysfunction and disease is thought to be caused by the imbalance of those Yin and Yang. Another core tenant of TCM is the flow of Qi (energy) through meridians in the body. It is this Qi that maintains the dynamic balance of Yin and Yang. With those two core tenants of TCM, acupuncture is used as a tool to achieve proper flow of Qi to restore the balance of Yin and Yang.
Acupuncture is used to encourage natural healing, improve mood and energy, reduce and relieve pain and improve function of affected areas of the body. It is safe and effective and is often successfully used as an alternative to medications and even surgery.
